FREE NITROX COURSE
A unique opportunity to participate in a science-based program modelled by experienced instructors providing authentic training. We wrote the book - now you can learn from it.
Working with various industry stakeholders, Club Voodoo has developed an authentic Nitrox training program that revisits the true merits behind diving with enriched air mediums. This is not just any ordinary Nitrox program, this course invites divers to explore a resource that has the power to facilitate so many opportunities with respect to subsea exploration, not to mention improving diver safety.

How the Club Voodoo Free Nitrox Course Works

To enrol complete the application form below which will help us best connect you with an Instructor.

You will be required to complete a medical form and liability release - standard with any diver training course. Although the training is free you will be required to cover the cost of training materials and final certification.

An Instructor will be assigned to complete the program and will contact you to arrange the logistics.
-
Your required training involves a 4-hour academic session and may be conducted in person or through an on-line video conferencing session followed by a short in-person workshop covering tank labelling, analyzing gasses and completing gas-blending logs.
-
Dives - although optional we highly highly encourage you to join us for one or more dives.
It's that simple!

Why Free?

We recognize that offering free dive training may be perceived as counter-intuitive to basic dive industry business practices however, the basic premise behind Club Voodoo’s mission is to facilitate opportunities for people to be safer in the water. Deeper. Longer. Safer.

In our research we identified that one of the primary reasons the promotion of Nitrox use in Canada has been ineffective, is the quality of instruction which has been compromised by structured course outlines with diluted and limited content. Many training agencies have marketed the Nitrox program as an ‘easy and simple’ program to teach requiring little to no involvement on behalf of an Instructor. During its inception, the technical diving training agencies required Nitrox Instructor candidates to complete a 3-day on-boarding workshop and asked that the candidate have some experience diving Nitrox; however those standards have changed for many training agencies. As a result the value of the program and potential to grow a strong Nitrox diver community has been compromised.

One of Club Voodoo’s primary mandates is to support the dive retail industry. Although offering free Nitrox training may appear contradictory to embedding value, we believe this approach will help ‘reset’ the quality of delivery in training - ensuring the learning experience is authentic. We propose to do it in a way that still helps promote and support the retail dive industry.
